Put to death in the most cruel way - just for falling in love.

We all know somebody who at some point in their lives have been involved in a relationship with someone else while they've been married. These things happen. People fall in love - and apart from making sure that financial and parental responsibilities are sorted out appropriately, it's none of the State's business. Really not.

We accept that here, but if you live in Iran, it's a different story. In this quite harrowing video, comedian Shappi Korsandi takes us through what happens to a man caught committing adultery. The matter of fact delivery and the upbeat background music makes it all the more gruesome.

The death penalty is wrong, per se, but stoning with its audience participation and the sheer length of time someone is suffering, is in a league of its own.

Amnesty are running a campaign to get people to ask the Iranian Government to have stoning removed from its penal code, which it is currently in the process of reviewing. They want us all to write to Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader (what a title to give yourself, but that's a side issue). It takes no time at all, and you can do so here.
